All my posts about travel in Bournemouth! As Dorset’s largest town, Bournemouth offers a great blend of traditional seaside charm and big-town buzz.

It’s a great location to base yourself while exploring the county: there are excellent transport links, and it’s only a short hop to the coastal highlights of the Isle of Purbeck. In town, there are plenty of fun things to see and do – not to mention some great restaurants and an excellent nightlife scene!

Bournemouth is well known for its vibrant nightlife. Below, I’ve rounded up a few of the most distinctive bars – but there are loads more to choose from.

  • The Library of Liquor – a speakeasy bar at The Larderhouse restaurant
  • DYMK – one of the most popular gay bars in Bournemouth’s LGBT+ friendly Triangle area
  • Aruba – a huge upstairs bar on the pier, with amazing ocean views
  • Renouf’s – award-winning cheese and wine bar in Westbourne
  • 1812 – a classy over-21s venue which has won ‘Best Evening Experience – Bar / Nightclub’ five times from the Bournemouth Tourism Awards
  • Goat and Tricycle – a popular pub well known for good ale
  • LEVEL8IGHT Sky Bar – stunning rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor seating at the top of The Hilton hotel, with amazing views
