The Chalet on the Beach
Where: Lyme Regis
What: Mini Cabin
Sleeps: 2
If you want to be as close as possible to the Dorset seaside, this glamping chalet is the one for you. It’s situated right on the beach in Lyme Regis, with up-close sea views and direct access to the shingle!
This boutique chalet is like a fancier version of a classic beach hut, so it’s pretty compact. But it’s also brilliantly kitted out to make full use of the space. There’s a small open-plan living room with a sitting area, dining area, and a compact fitted kitchen with a one-ring induction hob. There’s also a TV and an electric heater to help make your nights in a little cosier!
Above this area, you’ll find a double bed tucked onto the “sleep shelf”. And while the wet room may be small, it features a shower, proper flushing WC and wash-basin with hot and cold running water.
Imagine drifting off at night to the sound of waves lapping at the shore. Sipping a G&T on your verandah overlooking the beach as the stars start to come out. And waking up for a morning swim before breakfast – with the promise of a hot shower to revive you afterwards!
La Cabine Francaise
Where: Near Dorchester
What: Shepherds Hut
Sleeps: 2 | Dog Friendly
La Cabine Francaise is an idyllic glamping shepherd’s hut in central Dorset with a uniquely French twist! Set within the heart of stunning Hardy country* north of Dorchester, this gorgeous shepherd’s hut takes glamping to another level. There’s even under-floor heating!
You actually get two shepherd’s huts in one here!. The main hut holds the bedroom – complete with a king-sized bed – as well as a kitchenette and seating area. Then the smaller hut is “the snug”, with a cosy sofa to curl up and relax with a good book.
Both huts have log burners, elegant French-inspired decor, and plenty of home-from-home comforts. There’s also a large wooden verandah, perfect for alfresco dining, as well as a fire pit for cosy campfire nights beneath the starry skies.
*the countryside that inspired the region known as Wessex in Thomas Hardy’s novels.
Pendragon Pod
Where: Axminster (4.5 miles from Lyme Regis)
What: Glamping Pod
Sleeps: 2 | Dog Friendly
Although not quite in Dorset, Pendragon Pod on the very edge of Devon is just a few miles north of Lyme Regis. So it’s perfectly poised for exploring the nearby Jurassic Coast, as well as all the delights of Dorset’s stunning interior.
It’s a specially designed wooden glamping pod with a circular door and charming country-chic decor. Perched on the edge of seven acres of woodland, this is a brilliantly secluded spot for anyone looking to get away from it all.
The snug, open-plan interior has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The double bed faces the door, so you can wake up to an incredible countryside view every morning! There’s a well-equipped kitchenette and an en-suite shower room complete with a heated towel rail – as well as a cosy log burner and a TV in the seating area.
There’s also a fabulous outdoor area, with sun loungers, a picnic bench, BBQ, and a cute dog-sized glamping pod to match the larger one! And when night falls, you can relax around the fire pit, toasting marshmallows under the stars.
Toby’s Hut
Where: Near Charmouth
What: Shepherd’s Hut
Sleeps: 2 | Dog Friendly
The colourfully painted interior of Toby’s Shepherd’s Hut, just north of Charmouth and Lyme Regis, is sure to brighten up your holiday!
This unique glamping spot in west Dorset is owned by an artist, which is reflected in its stunning paint-box decor. You can even spot some of her incredible sculptures as you wander through the surrounding gardens.
Toby’s Hut is a lovely, colourful haven boasting some irresistible countryside views – and an interior that’ll make it hard to put your camera down! Inside the hut, there’s a compact kitchen, a cosy bed, a small shower room, and a log burner. Outside, there’s a BBQ and an alfresco dining area to make the most of the stunning views, as well as a firepit.
But the best part? Your very own private hot tub outside. Perfect for unwinding amidst the tranquil scenery – perhaps with a glass of bubbly in hand…
Stargazy Sky Shepherd’s Hut
Where: Axminster (3.8 miles from Lyme Regis)
What: Shepherd’s Hut
Sleeps: 2
This final glamping property is actually on the outskirts of Devon, near Dorset, but it’s only a stone’s throw from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast. Stargazy Sky Shepherds Hut sits in its very own meadow above Devon’s Axe Valley, with incredible countryside views.
The hut is located on a working farm, and in season you can buy the owner’s own beef and pork to cook up a BBQ feast! Fruit, veg and eggs are often available, too.
Like the other huts, this is seriously elevated glamping – with a log burner, heated towel rail, and a very well-equipped kitchen. It’s also beautifully decorated, with a lovely wooden floor and cream-painted wood panelling.
The cute outdoor area is surrounded by fairy lights, with a BBQ, swing chair, and a firepit. There’s also an outdoor, spring-fed cold shower if you fancy a unique shower experience. Don’t worry, there’s still a hot shower inside if you can’t brave the al-fresco one!
